Walk on the Quiet Side

Great job, Marvel, for bringing into the light the character of the Black Panther. In a time of racial tension having a black man of honor and dignity rise as a hero is ever so timely. (If you listen carefully when Black Panther hits to ground running, he is very quiet.)

T’Challa is the Black Panther and a king who walks quietly into the Avengers’ world. He loses his father in the middle of peace accords and now he wants to bring about justice. The fire within him, long dormant, has been ignited. T’Challa hides under clouds and over underpasses to find his father’s killer. When he does face his target, the T’ Challa has enough wisdom to sit back and silently watch the truth unfold. The panther was stalking the wrong prey. In the end when the true culprit is revealed, the king’s character does as well. The Panther retracts his Vibranium claws and talks to the Baron. He sees what vengeance and anger did to tear the Avengers apart. T’ Challa learned from their fury that vengeance will consume you if you let it. Justice will be served, but with a clear head and conscience.

It’s good to not act too quickly in a moment of passion. We might make decisions that will effect others far worse then righting a wrong. They do say that cooler heads prevail in a crisis. I hope you can see real justice done when you walk away quietly and see the situation from a better, more open vantage point.

I think he is another voice of reason in the Avenger’s chaotic world.

This is an excellent read on an important character. In all the craziness of ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ I think it was easy to miss what you so wonderfully illuminated. The current Black Panther comic series, being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, is well worth checking out as well.
